Pretty wild - I saw the show here in Washington State in July. I hadn't seen Slayer since Clash of the Titans back in '90, so that was cool. Priest reunited was heavenly, and it looked like they were having a great time performing together again, after all this time. Sabbath was great, although I do get tired of the old staples like "Iron Man" and "Paranoid". I wish they'd bust out more stuff from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage, but of course, you have to please the masses, who may only know one or two of the famous tunes.

The other bands I didn't care much about. Superjoint Ritual and Dimmu Borgir (sp?) were entertaining, but not really my cup of tea.

I saw the show in San Bernardino, CA and Priest took the show. Ozzy needs to retire from touring. The main reason they don't do songs from SBS or Sabotage anymore is because he can't hit those notes anymore. He had a tough enough time getting through Snowblind. They still rocked, however. In any case, seeing the original Sabbath together is always cool. Dimmu Borgir is better experienced in a smaller venue. I saw them at the House Of Blues in Hollywood last year and they were downright scary. I've seen Slayer several times in the last 15 years and they've never done a bad show. This one was good too, but they seemed almost tired, kinda like they were just getting through another tour stop. Technical problems may have been a factor, but this was the least energetic I've ever seen them.

Actually, I could've sworn Tom Araya's kids were off to the side of the stage, wearing giant ear protectors, watching their daddy rock out with the band! I guess you know a band's been touring a long time when they're taking their families out on the road with them...

Oh yeah, Priest definitely took the show. I teach high school, and a lot of my students this year got turned on to Priest after seeing Ozzfest this year.

Whoops, forgot to log in... That last post was mine...

I sure do hope that Ozzy and Tony go back in and finish that new Sabbath album they started work on in 2002. Sad to know that there are a bunch of new but unfinished Black Sabbath tracks featuring the original four sitting in a broom closet somewhere.

Maybe seeing Priest reunited will get the Sabbath guys thinking about releasing a new album with the original members...

OMG, that's when *I* saw Slayer!! Clash of the Titans, 1990, here in Houston. I won tickets to that show on a local radio station, so that was cool...and then when we got there and found our seats, some kids behind us called out to a couple of other kids that were walking by, talked for a couple of minutes, and then one of them said to me "excuse me. Are you two just here together, or are there more people coming?" I said it was just me and my friend. He said "do you want to trade tickets? We want to be with our friends."

Our box seats weren't bad, but their friends' tickets? 10th row, floor biggrin.gif

Pretty excellent deal for free biggrin.gif All bands killed too.

Saw Ozzy with Anthrax back in '89 or so, but never been to an Ozzfest. Oh well.

Clash of the Titans was a pretty cool show. I was a little confused by Alice In Chains as the opening act - if I remember correctly, they weren't very popular with the crowd. I was never much of an Anthrax fan, so I thought their set was the weakest of the three co-headliners. Megadeth and Slayer dominated the show, though.

Actually, in retrospect, I was most impressed with Megadeth. Dave really had a good thing going with Marty, Nick, and Junior on Rust In Peace. The musicianship was just amazing. The stage set was cool, too. Too bad Dave can't seem to keep a working lineup of the band together...

Strange, Alice in Chains went over well here. Maybe they were less popular in your area of the world...?

All bands were equally good...although some were obviously heavier than others though laugh.gif The order of our show was all wrong, though, as Slayer played first, and Anthrax last. But they supposedly flipped a coin nightly to see who would headline though.

Yeah, I wonder what the deal is? And did Junior finally leave recently?

Fuzz- 10-09-2004
Yeah, it was odd, since Alice In Chains was a Washington State band and we saw Clash of the Titans here in Washington State... it seems like they would've been received better. I think they were being identified as a Seattle grunge band at that time, which wasn't very popular with some of the metalheads.

Anthrax closed the show when we saw 'em, too. Megadeth played first, and Slayer was sandwiched in the middle.

Dave Ellefson did finally leave Megadeth, and evidently he sued Mustaine for whatever reason. It sounds like Megadeth is going to call it a day after the current tour, and Dave is going to do something different. sad.gif At least, that's what I gather from what I've seen on the internet...
