The Recording Industry Association of America has announced that for the first time it's extending its certification system of record sales to the telephone. Now, not only CDs can go gold, platinum, and multiplatinum -- so can ringtones. Any original recording that's been downloaded 500,000 times or more for a ringtone the RIAA now certifies as gold; a million times, platinum; and 2 million, multi-platinum. Eighty-four titles have been certified gold, 40 platinum, and 4 multi-platinum including AC/DC's 'Back In Black' (platinum) and OZZY OSBOURNE's 'Crazy Train' (platinum).
