Back in 1981 Zeeb and I worked on a construction site. Jacksons the builders were constructing a three storey extension to the Oldswinford boys school and were well in to the project.
Picture the scene, both of us were on the second floor. There were no lights, electrics, plastering, doors or windows, just an empty concrete and brick shell. The gaffer was nowhere to be seen so we started a game of tick or tag as you might say it in the States.

I was on and was chasing Zeeb down a long corridor. At the end was a door opening to the outside of the building. This was to become a fire escape but the only thing on the outside was the scaffolding. Now bear in mind that the scaffolding platforms had been raised to the third floor where all the activity was taking place, Zeeb braved it and began balance walking on the two inch poles.
I looked out and decided it was too dangerous to continue the chase. So I retreated to the next room where Zeeb was heading towards and hid in a dark corner.
I could hear Zeeb's keys on his belt jangling and getting closer to me. As Zeeb went to climb in through the window opening I sprang towards him. This took Zeeb by surprise and as he turned to get away he lost his grip and balance and crashed to the ground. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! bump!
I looked down to see Zeeb lying in a pile in pain.

I feared for the worst so I ran as fast as I could out of the building and to where he had fallen.
By the time I had got to him he had managed to get to his feet. He had cuts to his arm and leg and a graze to his head.
He had been very lucky because he had missed a pack of bricks by inches or he could have collected the scaffold poles on the way down.
He was dazed and badly shaken up and obviously in some discomfort from his injuries.
He looked at me to provide a supporting hand, to which I obliged. I reached out and touched him and said the magic words,
TICK, YOU'RE ON MATE!
I think Zeeb was on for the rest of the day 'cause he didn't have the strength to walk, let alone run.
